Before founding Your Designated Dietitian, Carla's journey began in pre-med, where she quickly realized the healthcare system was missing something critical: personalized strategy for the demands of real life.
While her peers pursued lab coats and stethoscopes, Carla was drawn to a different question: How do you fuel performance when your schedule is chaos, your demands are high, and generic advice doesn't fit?
She saw women being handed the same tired recommendations - "eat less, move more, try this diet" - with no consideration for irregular schedules, cognitive load, or the metabolic complexity underneath. Restriction-focused approaches weren't just ineffective; they were actively working against the women who needed real solutions.
With her pre-med background giving her deep insight into physiology, Carla pivoted to nutrition science, earning her Master's in Human Nutrition with a singular focus: metabolic optimization for sustained energy and mental capacity. She wanted to work with women who were done shrinking and ready to build stronger lives.
In 2023, she launched Your Designated Dietitian with a clear mission: to provide evidence-based, personalized nutrition protocols for women who need consistent energy and mental clarity to thrive - whether that's sustaining energy through demanding workdays, maintaining focus under pressure, or body recomposition without restriction that always backfires.
Her clients often don't realize they're performing at a high level until they start optimizing for it. They just know something isn't working - the crashes, the inconsistency, the sense that their current approach is failing them. That's where Carla comes in: translating their reality into strategy.
Now, with over a decade of experience, Carla specializes in what she does best: reversing pre-diabetes, stabilizing energy, and optimizing metabolic flexibility - not through restriction, but through strategic fueling.
